Summer Clerkship
Summer Clerkship
The Legislation, Policy and Criminal Law Review Division (LPCLRD) of the Department of Attorney General and Justice is pleased to participate in the annual Summer Clerkship Scheme for 2012-2013. We expect to offer 1 to 2 clerkship positions.
A summer clerkship with LPCLRD provides a unique opportunity to be involved in formulating government policy, law reform and Parliamentary practice. You will have hands-on involvement in a range of projects from civil to criminal law policy and legislation development. Some of the tasks you may be expected to complete are:
- preparing briefing notes for the Attorney General
- liaising with stakeholders
- conducting in-depth analysis on proposed Bills or policy reform from other Ministers
- writing speeches
- attending meetings
- working with other Government Departments, and
- conducting research.
A LPCLRD summer clerkship is suited to students who enjoy working in a fast paced and dynamic workplace, have excelled in a variety of academic and non-academic fields, and are interested in pursuing a career in government or public policy. LPCLRD is currently the only Division within the Department that participates in the Summer Clerkship scheme.*
The Summer Clerkship Scheme is coordinated by the Law Society of NSW. Information on the Scheme, including eligibility requirements and conditions of participation, is available on the Law Society's website.
